ABOUT TY WILLIAMS & SLOWTIDE
Ty Williams is from Florida and the archetypal sarcasm and playfulness of an East Coast native finds its way into his mixed media artwork. A free-thinking doodler, Ty's work is a unique blend of simplicity, absurdity and beauty. It's obvious from his subject matter that the sea is always on his mind but it's also clear from the idiosyncrasies of his style that the sea in question is the Atlantic... lots of pastel hues, weirdly misshapen sea creatures and faded stoney textures.
Dario Phillips, Kyle Spencer and Wylie Von Tempsky founded Slowtide after simple a clear and gaping gap in the market. Being surfers on Hawaiian and Californian shores they were using towels everyday... the large printed surfaces struck them as the perfect canvas for the art and graphics of of the beach culture they love. Immediately they set up Slowtide with the simple goal of elevating the functional beach towel to an accessible and eye catching work of art. 7 years in and their quest for collaboration, quality and creativity has led them to work with loads of crucial artists, designers and brands. Their product range has expanded to include blankets, towels for home and changing ponchos for the beach, sticking to their original edict of "Elevating a daily essential into a functional work of art".
